Can Motorola L6 be used?

With difficult I found that L6 is available in some of the shops here in Sri Lanka. But I realized that it has a single mini usb port for everything. How do you get the audio from the phone while you have the mini usb being used to control the phone?

Motorola c650/c350 is not available here. Any other suggestion? May be a little bit new model?

I am interested in doing something like this:
1) To use celliax to answer calls with full features
2) Send/receive SMS from PC (when the phone is not being used for calls) may be using smstools

So, I am trying to figure out a phone that will support both of these. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kamal

The older the phone, the better is the support ;-)

try to find a model with a usb port *and* a jack for the handsfree headset.

The ones with one only USB port for both data and headset are not yet reported working with celliax.

Buy the cheapest model (with USB *and* headset jack) you can find (or better, buy it second hand).

No necessary any "smart feature", we just need the phone for phone calls and SMSs...

Feel free to write here again when you know which models are available in your area with the usb port and the headset jack.

Ciao for now,

Thanks for the reply.

May be I should start with this old Nokia 3530 that I already have.

The page at the url http://www.forsi.it/gnokii/xgnokii-features.html shows that this phone has something called Ext PBX. I wonder whether this means that the phone has CLI features and AT command dialing features. The same page says SMS is supported through gnokii. That solves one problem.

I should start finding a USB cable for this (if not try to solder a usb cable into those small copper dots of the phone).

Any thoughts?

Kamal

Hi Giovanni, Are there CLI

Hi Giovanni,

Are there CLI friendly Nokia phones anyway? You have mentioned in the 'About' page that Nokia 3310 and compatibles cellphones cannot detect the caller. Is this applicable to all (or almost all) Nokia phone?

Kamal

I think that the vast

I think that the vast majority of Nokia phones gives you the CLI. I think that is just a specific problem of the 3310 (and maybe other, but I do not know about) that it do not gives you the CLI (and it do not give you any hint about an incoming call, we just sample the audio input from the audiocable to know when there is an incoming call on 3310)

I think the 3530 will works,

I think the 3530 will works, and if it not works (I never tested it) I'm willing to help you and/or fix the code until it works.

Let me know how you proceed, please

Giovanni
